Our Practice

The Victorian Equine Group is a team of ambulatory and hospital based equine vets who provide both first opinion and referral quality veterinary care to horses across the Central Victorian Region. This 100% equine practice established in 2012 owns and operates the Bendigo Equine Hospital and Victorian Equine Group – Nagambie. The Bendigo Equine Hospital is a specialised equine hospital and our team of vets have the expertise to deal with all your equine needs. We are dedicated to providing comprehensive twenty-four-hour care, seven days a week. 

Bendigo Equine Hospital 

Our hospital is a purpose built surgical and medical facility right in the heart of the racing precinct. We are located directly opposite the Bendigo Racecourse. The hospital led by a specialist equine surgeon Dr Sarah Jalim includes eleven equine vets and is supported by a team of dedicated equine nurses and stable attendants who provide a high level of services to all equine patients and their owners. 

The hospital offers a wide range of specialist services including equine surgery, lameness examination, diagnostic imaging and pre-purchase examinations to name a few. Within our fully equipped hospital we offer: 

• Fully equipped surgical suite with padded induction/recovery box 
• Hydraulic surgical table with overhead hoist 
• Large working area with non-slip rubber flooring 
• Padded crushes for mare and foals 

During normal business hours, Bendigo Equine Hospital provides ambulatory services to Bendigo and surrounding areas. Travel beyond these regions and throughout other parts of the state is occasionally undertaken by prior arrangement. 

Emergency service is provided to many of these areas after hours, depending on location and availability of veterinarians. Please note that, if a veterinarian is unable to attend your property, there will always be an option to present our horse to the Bendigo Equine Hospital. 

Victorian Equine Group – Nagambie 

Victorian Equine Group – Nagambie services the North-East region of Victoria including Nagambie, the centre of the Victorian Thoroughbred breeding industry. From our local base, our experienced veterinarians service studs, breeding farms, agistment farms, training centres and horse owners large and small. Our team is led by our equine reproduction specialist Dr Simon Robinson who has more than 20 years- experience working on horse studs and breeding farms. Our experienced veterinarians offer both routine and 24-hour, 7 days per week emergency veterinary services. 

We provide a comprehensive range of equine veterinary services for breeding horses, race horses and performance horses at your stud or property. If your horse requires hospitalisation, this is performed at the Bendigo Equine Hospital.
